Club History

The club was started in 1992 when a group of us who had been playing together at an evening class decided to set up on our own. We formed the club and took 3 courts at the Leigh City Technology College.

On 2nd July 2002, the club moved to Wilmington Hall School (now Wilmington Academy) in Common Lane Wilmington and played there until November 2012 when we moved to the new Leigh Academy. Due to exams, we were told we would have to vacate for several weeks in May & June so we moved to the Science & Technology School for Girls where we played until September 2013. We then moved to White Oak Leisure Centre in Swanley until May of 2014 followed by a move back to the new Wilmington Academy. Since January 2015 the Sports Hall at the Academy is being run by Nuffield Health. In December of 2015, Nuffield Health ceased its contract with the Academy and the Academy was no longer able to let us use the hall for 51 weeks each year. So the club moved on the 22nd of March 2016 to the newly refurbished Fairfield Pool & Leisure Centre in Dartford. This coincided with a change of name for the Club. The current President - Ray Lane, a founder member, took over the running of the club for 2 weeks in 1994 and has run the club since.

In 2017 the club decided to become affiliated with Badminton England and this has meant some changes. We now have a committee to run the club with a Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Social Secretary and Welfare Officer. Whilst this has put the club on a firmer footing and given us insurance it has not changed our basic principle that the club is run for fun & exercise and is not currently looking to play League Badminton.
